* How do I register on Philatino?

* How can I find a specific item?

Use our search engine. You can access it by clicking on the "Search" tab in the main menu bar, or clicking here. Choose the search parameters and click "Go". Back to top

 

* How do I bid?

In order to place a bid in any auction on Philatino, you must log in using your username and password.
Go to an auction's listing by clicking on the "See list" link, and then click "Bid" to place a bid for a specific lot. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. You must only bid in whole numbers (without decimal points). Should you win, you are obligated to complete the purchase. Please review your bid (lot and price) before confirming it, because bids cannot be retracted (in order to learn more about the bidding process and how lots are awarded, click here).

* How do I know if I am winning an auction?

To check the status of your bids, go to the "Bids Status" option in the Account tab in the menu bar. You can also check it from the auction listing, by clicking the "Click here for personalized list" botton. These are the possible bids statuses:

If you have already bid on the item:

You are on top
You are the current high bidder

If you have not yet bid on the item:

Place Bid
This lot has zero bids. Bid now!

Outbid
You have been outbid. Increase your bid!

Else is winning
Another buyer(s) has bidded on this lot

If you are outbid, Philatino will send you an email so you can bid again in time.

* How do I pay for my purchase?

We will send the buyer an invoice of his/her purchase with several options to make the corresponding payment. Accepted methods of payments: Wire transfer, cash, check or PayPal (*), but their availability and conditions will depend on your country of residence. If you have any questions, please contact us at philatino@philatino.com

(*) PayPal payments - Important note: We accept PayPal payments with an additional charge of 5.5% to cover their fees (PayPal actually charges a commission of 8%: 5.5% to receive the money, and 2.5% for withdrawal which we will absorb). This additional charge is requested because, as the buyers premium in our auctions is very low (only 10%, while the usual percentage in European and American auction houses is of 20-30%), it is very difficult to absorb all the PayPal fees, which would represent 80% of our seller's commission.
