F.VF     Cover sent from New York to Osorno (Chile) in 1945, delivered in 1960 by the Chile Mail to the addressee, with violet mark: "CORRESPONDENCIA RETARDADA Y RECUPERADA DEL S/S JOHN BIDWELL - 1945 - 1960 - CORREOS DE CHILE" (Letter delayed and rescued from S/S Bidwell 1945- 1960) very well applied. This ship was abandoned in Philadelphia in 1945, and when the scrap works began in 1960, a sealed compartment was found with about 500 sacks of mail for Chile, containing mostly newspapers and magazines, and very few covers. With arrival mark on back of 2/DE/1960. Excellent quality, rare!
